LO5 - Response to Feedback

Based on the feedback given, the main sector which needed improvement is to do with privacy in terms of small chat groups. This is because the premise of the whole thing is that it is open world set over the span of many terrains. However, with this being an open world there seems to be no sense of privacy as through voice chat, people are able to listen to other people's conversations as there is no form of restrictions.  So, to accommodate for this following on the feedback from Anne, I hope to add a 'House' feature in which people will be given a basic apartment to start with and customise however to increase revenue from the product, there will be custom houses and land surrounding up for purchase via NPC locations and will be purchased using a virtual currency specific to Atlas. This currency will also be used on clothing, cosmetics and accessories as it allows for more personalisation when it comes to my product and also serves the main purpose of allowing for a priva...

LO5 - Evaluation of Feedback

From the feedback I have received, I have found that where my idea is great and I thought deeply into my practicality and the opportunities that come with this product. It brings a lot of new ideas and concepts while innovating upon current social interaction concepts with the idea of your own personal space being one of them and allowing people to customise this space.  So from this I feel like the next step of planning for my product would be adding in new customisation options as this seemed to be the most popular section of my product and I feel I should make it so that people can customise not just how they want their experience to look but also make it so that they can customise what they want their experience to feel like and how they want to use and make the most of the service, as I had explained in my presentation, my service will have both professional and social uses dependant on the user's needs.  However, I believe that to have even better feedback on my idea, an...

LO5 - Feedback from Anne Doncaster

As part of our project, we presented to a media specialist in order to get their feedback, in this case it was to Anne Doncaster, a lecturer at Sheffield Hallam University and a specialist in Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality. This made it perfect for my project as mine is heavily focused on Virtual Reality and how it can be used to innovate upon current social media.  Overall she was quite impressed with my idea and my thought process as I has clearly gone through it and made it clear and structured as to how it would work and how I would go through each stage of production and then the steps I'd take after my production in order to market it. She also liked how i had been realistic and identified issues in terms of the limitations of modern day technology, the availability of VR technology and how social interactions can affect people. However Anne also identified an issue with the area of interactions as she felt that just having a city to socialise in would be a little over...

LO4 : Be able to create a proposal using converging technologies to exploit the identified new markets

For my product, as it is an immersive Virtual Reality product, I propose that we make this product exclusive to be accessed through virtual reality items such as the Oculus Quest series, HTC Vive series and Lenovo Explorer series of VR headsets. This is because if I allow my platform to be accessed via other channels such as PC or handheld smart devices, it ultimately removes the unique factor of my product that makes it distinguishable from other social media platforms such as Instagram, Tiktok and Snapchat.  This product will be converging into the computing and the social media sectors due to the fact that my product is going to be released onto Steam which is the same place that other VR products such as VR Chat, a product similar to mine in a lot of ways. Moreover, it converges into the computing industry due to it having a new way for people to experience Virtual Reality and it is a new way for people to have fun, this will mean that it can make its way into the gaming ...

LO3 - Be able to illustrate how the legal, ethical, social and moral issues are considered within the product proposal

LO3.1 Legal and regulatory requirements Due to my product serving as a social platform, there are many legal and regulatory requirements. Firstly I must make sure that my product is age tagged by the correct regulatory body and to the correct age rating; in this case as a virtual reality product for social communications, it will be set to a PEGI and ESRB rating of 13 ,however due to the ability for people to have a custom avatar and the ability to use violent, strong language it will be set that users agree to the following EULA, by doing so they represent and warrant to us that: They are at least 13 years old You have not been previously suspended or removed from the service Your registration and use of the service complies to all applicable laws and regulations If you are between 13 and 18 years of age you only have access to the service with consent from a legal parent or guardian after having read the EULA Moreover, other reg...
